At Quetzaltrekkers, we are heavily reliant on volunteers to ensure that we continue to support the local community. The proceeds from our hikes form the main source of our funding for the projects, so volunteer guides are crucialto the success of our organization.
As a volunteer guide, you are supplied with training and entrusted with a lot of responsibility and independence. Working as a volunteer for QT can be hectic and the days can be long. Ultimately though, it is an incredibly rewarding experience and a whole lot of fun.

Volunteer Hiking Guide
What does it entail?
Guiding hikes for 3-5 days a week; including completing the preparation before hikes and the clean-up after hikes.
Seeing the beauty of Nicaragua and providing clients with a great hiking experience.
Attending and giving time to the projects that QT supports.
Working a couple of office shifts a week (including selling hikes and signing people up).
Sharing your ideas and helping with ad-hoc tasks to ensure that we continue to evolve as an organisation.
What is required?
To be in a good physical condition and have hiking experience.
To be a sociable person and enjoy interacting with clients.
To be enthusiastic and committed to helping us ache¡ve our goals.
To speak English.
To have a basic level of Spanish or a willingness to learn.
To have a valid first aid certification.
To be willing to commit to a placement for a minimum of three months.
